BUILD BICK
Built to Bring Execution Clarity Earlier
BUILD BICK is an independent technical advisory firm helping owners, developers, and general contractors understand how bid and contract documents may affect pricing, coordination, RFIs, change discussions, delays, margin, and project control once the project moves into execution.
Why BUILD BICK exists
Many construction problems do not begin on site, they begin earlier — In unclear scope, inconsistent requirements, missing information, timing gaps, unresolved interfaces, hidden obligations, or responsibility questions within the project documents.
In complex construction projects, this pattern appears again and again: a document package may look ready from a design or procurement perspective, but still leave open the very questions that later affect pricing, coordination, change discussions, delays, disputes, cost control, and project outcomes.
BUILD BICK was created to address this gap: The missing execution-focused layer between design, procurement, and construction.
By bringing practical General Contractor-side execution experience into the review of bid and contract documents, BUILD BICK helps project teams understand where the project basis may create friction once it has to be priced, awarded, coordinated, built, and managed in real project conditions.
The goal? Create clarity earlier, when it can still support better decisions, stronger alignment, and more controlled project execution.
Meet the Founder
My name is Laura Bickendorff and I founded BUILD BICK because I have seen the same pattern in construction projects again and again: capable teams fighting problems during execution that were already embedded in the documents much earlier.
For many years, I worked on the general contractor side: First in site supervision, later as a project manager with full project responsibility. I worked on subcontractor procurement, estimation, risk identification, and change management. Across all of these tasks, one lesson became very clear: The way scope, responsibilities, interfaces, and expectations are clarified early has a direct and strong impact on how smoothly a project runs later.
Needed clarifications and changes made this especially visible: Even when the physical work had not changed significantly, unclear documents create enormous effort, pressure, delays, disputes, and cost overruns during execution.
Owners often asked me how these issues could be avoided earlier. My answer became the foundation of Build Bick: Bring real general contractor-side execution experience into the project basis before the pressure builds.
The result is more than stable costs and reliable schedules – it is the AHA moment when owners and general contractors realize how much smoother, more productive, and even enjoyable a project becomes when clarity and collaboration replace confrontation and uncertainty.
Our Core Principles
BUILD BICK works as an independent advisory layer with one purpose: helping project teams create clearer project conditions before avoidable issues turn into execution pressure. The work is practical, project-specific, grounded in real General Contractor-side experience, and designed to complement existing teams.
Project first
BUILD BICK focuses on what best supports the project: clearer scope, better alignment, fewer avoidable surprises, and stronger conditions for cost, schedule, quality, and collaboration.
Useful and actionable
The focus is on practical clarity that helps teams understand what matters, why it matters, and what should be considered next.
Practical GC-Side Judgment
BUILD BICK applies real General Contractor-side execution experience to understand how issues may affect pricing, coordination, RFIs, change discussions, delays, margin, or project control.
